Welcome to Week 4 of the NFL season, where rookie quarterbacks are making headlines and setting records
Rookie Quarterbacks Shine
Caleb Williams and Bo Nix emerged as key players in their respective games. Drafted as the first overall pick, Caleb Williams has been nothing short of remarkable. He made history by becoming the first quarterback in the common-draft era to win his first two home starts in the same year. After leading the Chicago Bears to a Week 1 victory over the Tennessee Titans, Williams continued his winning ways in Week 4, steering the Bears to a 24-18 triumph against the Los Angeles Rams.
Bo Nix also displayed resilience and skill, even in a game with a rough start. Facing the New York Jets, Nix had negative yardage in the first half but rebounded impressively in the third quarter, throwing for 60 yards. He orchestrated the Denver Broncos' only touchdown in a 10-9 win, proving his mettle under pressure.
Jayden Daniels Makes History
Jayden Daniels of the Washington Commanders delivered an exceptional performance, leading his team to a 42-14 victory over the Arizona Cardinals. Completing 86.7% of his passes, Daniels became the first quarterback in NFL history to complete at least 85% of his passes in two consecutive games. This remarkable feat has given the Commanders an over .500 record through four weeks, a milestone the team hasn't achieved since 2011.
The week also marked a rare occurrence in NFL history, as it was just the third time that three rookie quarterbacks have won in the same week during the first four weeks of the season. This rare feat was previously witnessed only in 2012 and 2016.
Veterans Deliver Impressive Performances
While rookies captured much of the spotlight, seasoned players also demonstrated their prowess. Jared Goff of the Detroit Lions completed 100% of his passes against the Seattle Seahawks, leading his team to a 42-29 victory. Meanwhile, the Tennessee Titans dominated the Miami Dolphins with a 31-12 win.
Other Notable Games
The Atlanta Falcons edged out the New Orleans Saints with a 26-24 victory, and the Minnesota Vikings triumphed over the Green Bay Packers in a close 31-29 game. The Indianapolis Colts eked out a 27-24 win against the Pittsburgh Steelers, while the Tampa Bay Buccaneers overwhelmed the Philadelphia Eagles with a 33-16 victory. The Cincinnati Bengals defeated the Carolina Panthers 34-24, demonstrating their offensive firepower.
In a tight contest, the Houston Texans managed a 24-20 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Las Vegas Raiders overcame the Cleveland Browns 20-16, and the San Francisco 49ers secured a solid 30-13 victory against the New England Patriots. The Kansas City Chiefs continued their winning streak, beating the Los Angeles Chargers 17-10. The Baltimore Ravens displayed dominance with a 35-10 win over the Buffalo Bills, and the Dallas Cowboys defeated the New York Giants 20-15 in a hard-fought game.
Week 4 has undoubtedly been a week of remarkable performances and noteworthy achievements, setting the stage for an exciting season ahead in the NFL.
